Help encourage a young reader this summer, by helping with Project Transformation at St. Mark’s UMC in Mesquite during the mornings of July 21-24.
Our church will provide volunteers (adults and youth) to help the children read during 10AM - Noon. You can volunteer for one or more days. Please sign up at church or at our on-line registration.
We have finally changed the name on our sign and the bank accounts of the church from "First United Methodist Church of Lucas" to "Good Shepherd United Methodist Church." This means that from now on any checks written out to the church need to be made out to "Good Shepherd United Methodist Church." Please note that the bank WILL NO LONGER honor checks made out to "First United Methodist Church of Lucas." Thank you for your cooperation.
Coming July 20—Bill and Karen Itzel (and family!) for your listening pleasure!
Make your 4th of July plans now; join your church family for a 4th of July celebration. The cookout begins at 6 P.M., games are from 7:30 to 9:00, and after that we'll be watching the fireworks.
Everyone is welcome, bring your family and friends.
We will have a Bible Study based on episodes of ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ on Wed. evenings starting June 25 for 6 weeks. Come for one, a few or all classes whatever your summer schedule permits. One episode will be viewed for each class before discussion along with Bible references. The series, which focuses on the wise and kindly Sheriff Taylor, his hyper deputy, Barney Fife, and Andy's son, Opie, has remained on the air in syndication since its original run ended in the late 1960s after eight seasons.
